Peking Opera

Peking Opera has entertained Beijingers for over 200 years with its elaborate costumes, ear-splitting arias, dazzling martial arts and musical dialogue. Some of the bigger theaters have subtitle message boards in English and Chinese so even if you don't know the story you can still follow along.

Acrobatics

Chinese acrobatic troupes have traveled to many countries around the world and have amazed audiences everywhere. The contortions and balancing acts are quite incredible and sometimes seem almost superhuman, or super rubber human.

Art galleries

There are a ton of art museums and galleries in Beijing, with thousands of years of art from mega-ancient calligraphy and landscape paintings, to ultra-modern abstract body art.

Night life

Beijing's nightlife is rich with fun and local color and has something for all tastes.
You can take a rickshaw along Chang'an Avenue, the widest street in the world, to Tian'anmen Square to enjoy fabulous lighting and fountains.
Beijing is practically bristling with all types of bars and clubs. The main concentration of bars is in the area known as Sanlitun ( Three Mile Village ). This area, which is nestled in the Embassy District, is basically made up of two streets going north to south off of Gongti Beilu (Worker's Stadium North Road ).
Karaoke is a hugely popular activity in Beijing. It is basically a bar with rooms that you rent out for however many hours, which is equipped with a TV and stereo system and two microphones. Most of the songs are in Chinese, but more and more karaokes have extensive English language "menus" now too.
Recently teahouses have seen a big comeback in Beijing and other parts of the country. It is now quite fashionable to go to a traditional calm and tranquille teahouse for some good old-fashioned tea-appreciation.

Kids Activities

While Beijing expatriates typically enjoy pleasing social life and entertainments, children of expatriates often feels socially isolated or simply bored. Fortunately, expatriate parents can make their kids happy taking them to the Beijing Zoo, the amusement Park or the Splash Recreation Club.

Museums

Beijing museums provide foreigners an excellent opportunity to appreciate local culture, History and Arts. Generally, you can learn their themes merely by their names. The Museum of Chinese History, built in 1959 on the east side of Tian'anmen Square, is China's largest State museum in which more than 60,000 anticlues, historic documents and pictures are stored. It is regarded as a historic vista reviewing the evolution of the Chinese nation .
